Mr. Fred Smith (aka, Uncle Tink) was born on May 25, 1927 in West Dallas, TX to Mr. Walter D. Smith and Mrs. Ruby (McBride) Smith. Fred served in the US Army during World War II and obtained the rank of Private First Class before being honorably discharged. After his military service to our country, Fred was a truck driver until his retirement.
Fred is preceded in death by both his parents, Walter and Ruby Smith; his brothers, Walter Smith Jr. and Billie Ray Smith; sisters: Lois Matilda Smith, Charlene Estelle Smith, Dorothy Johnson and husband Bill, Merle Coats and husband Johnny, and Bennie Tucker and husband R.W., his wife Betty Smith; and son Freddie Smith and many other family and friends.
Fred is survived by his nephew Ronnie Tucker and wife Jan; nephew Terry Tucker and wife Leslie; niece Linda Gurganus, and niece Gale Helm; along with numerous great and great-great nieces, nephews, and friends.
Special thanks to his caregiver April Abraham who welcomed him into her home July 8, 2022. She took loving care of him 24/7 until his passing on December 2, 2022. She has been such a blessing to the family.
Military Honors & Interment
Family and friends to gather at Jeter and Son Funeral Home to proceed to the cemetery at 10:00 AM.
