Obituary

Floyd Lee Simpson

October 4, 1931 - August 5, 2024

Dad was called to his eternal home in Heaven, surrounded by heavenly music. He leaves behind his beloved musical wife of 72 years, Wanda, and their cherished family: daughter Janene and her husband Bill Kanewske; daughter Pam and her husband Hagan Chandler; granddaughters, Jillian Fertig and Jaime Fertig; grandson, William Kanewske and his wife  Jessica, along with great-grandbaby Liam; grandson, Andrew Kanewske and his wife Morgan, who are expecting another great-grandbaby, Noah, in November 2024. He is also remembered by many wonderful friends.

A faithful member of Gospel Lighthouse Church for many years, Floyd played his bass guitar in the church orchestra for 40 years, accompanied by Wanda on the piano. His devotion to his family and his music will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. Memory has a magic way of keeping loved ones near - ever close in mind and heart are the ones we hold most dear.

A rest is part of music, the Lord ordained for you; its beats are perfectly measured how many or how few, the silent pause may alarm you but God knows what is best. Have Faith in the great Composer when He inserted a rest! It's only a break in the music, it's only a pause of peace. God knows that the rest was needed! The symphony did not cease!

Floyd drove the church van, allowing him and Wanda to attend 22 Gaither concerts, which he truly loved. He also enjoyed many bus trips with the tour guide and his wife, always appreciating the excellent buses and drivers. Floyd retired from the Jones, Day law firm at the age of 87. He was a member of the Southland Life Insurance Retiree Club, where his wife had worked. Passionate about decorating, he would adorn their home inside and out for every event while living in DeSoto. Floyd took great pride in keeping the yard neat and mowed, always ensuring it was well-maintained.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Morada Grand Prairie, Morada Cedar Hill, A Daughter's Care Assisted Living, and Sovereign Hospice for their compassionate care and support.

In lieu of flowers the family ask that you make a donation to The Lighthouse Church.
