Esther Marie Deases, born April 29, 1962, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Consuelo "Connie" Casteneda and Alfred G. Deases, passed away on July 23, 2024 and is now in the presence of her Savior Jesus Christ.

Esther was a devoted sister, aunt, and friend, known for her radiant smile and lively spirit. As the eldest of eight siblings, she provided guidance and support throughout their lives as their second mother. Esther spent time working in hospice care and provided compassionate care while forming meaningful connections with her hospice patients.

She was married to David Torres for many years, and despite their divorce in 1990, they maintained a close and supportive relationship. Throughout her life, Esther was celebrated for her generosity and love of family.
Esther's life was marked by her love of celebrating her birthdays, which David would commemorate with grand festivities. Esther's faith and family were central to her life. Although she did not have children of her own, she was a beloved aunt to her only niece Amanda Mia Martinez and numerous nephews. Her close bond with her sister, Beatrice Deases-Martinez, was particularly cherished, with the two often being referred to as "Thelma and Louise." Beatrice credits her sister for how well she turned out. Esther was always overprotective and taught her the finer things in life. They even went as far as getting baptized together back in 1982. She is preceded in death by her mother, Connie Deleon (2019); her nephew, Michael Deases Deane (2020); and her brother-in-law, J.C. Martinez (2021).

She is survived by her father, Alfred G. Deases, her siblings, Alfred Jr. Deases, Eustaquio "Cody" Deases, Edward Deases, Beatrice Deases-Martinez, Ruben Rico Deases, Johnny Deases and sis-in-law Kelley, Crystal Deleon, and Dr. John Deleon and sis-in-law Melissa. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family members.

Esther will be deeply missed for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering support. Her passing leaves a profound void in the lives of those who knew and loved her deeply. Her kindness, enthusiasm, and unwavering support will be deeply missed. Her daily calls, heartfelt hugs, and infectious humor will be fondly remembered. While we mourn her loss, we take comfort in the cherished memories she leaves behind and the promise of a future reunion.
