Elizabeth (Betty) Anne Cashman Hackney
Elizabeth (Betty) Anne was born in Haverhill, MA on July 26, 1930 and passed away in her sleep on March 20, 2025 with her family by her side. Betty was a proud sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great, great grandmother who considered her family her greatest joy, comfort, and accomplishment.
Betty moved to Dallas, Texas after her marriage to Ernest (Ernie) Hackney. Betty was preceded in death by Ernie, her husband of 50 years, her brother Jack Cashman of Binghamton, NY, her daughter Patricia (Patty) Wagoner, and son Perry Hackney. Betty was a long-time active member of the Oakcliff-Wynnewood Lions Club and a Melvin Jones Fellow.
Betty is survived by her children Paul Hackney and wife Carla, Pete Hackney and wife Donna, son-in-law Leslie Wagoner, and daughter-in-law Cindy Hackney, and 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Betty resided for the last year and a half at The Villages of Dallas assisted living facility, where she made many new friends among the residents and staff. She was happy there and was well loved in return.
Visitation will be at Jeter & Son Funeral Home, 332 Cedar St., Cedar Hill, TX 75104, on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, from 5:00-700 pm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church, 4015 S. Hampton Rd., Dallas, TX, 75232, on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at 10:00 am, followed by interment at Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Texas Lions Camp for Diabetic and Disabled Children, in Kerrville, TX, or Envision Dallas Lighthouse Foundation (formerly Lighthouse of the Blind). Both organizations were very dear to her and Ernie, where they volunteered many hours.
