Obituary

Elijah Rene Martinez

January 23, 2008 - December 30, 2023

At six weeks old Elijah lost his mother, Jackie, and was raised by his Grandmother Amy, who he always knew as his Mom, and his great-grandparents Joe and Irene San Miguel.

Elijah had a beautiful smile and a loving heart always telling his great-grandma how much he loved her. In fact, he always told everyone how much he loved her. The bond between Elijah and his great-grandfather, Joe, began at the age of six weeks old. His great-grandfather had recently retired and loved being able to provide care for Elijah and his great-great grandmother, Minnie.

Elijah attended Trinity Basin through elementary, Spence Middle School, and was currently a sophomore at Duncanville High School.

Elijah loved playing Forza Horizon 5 video game, playing football and riding bikes with his cousins, and enjoyed eating his great-grandma's good food. He was a sneaker head and always dressed to impress. In his youth he played soccer, and was on a wrestling team for a couple of years. He had developed a work out regiment to strengthen his core and muscles. He was allowed to use the workout equipment during his gym class. He was anxiously awaiting to take his driving test this month and had a passion for cars. He was already a very good driver.

Elijah was preceded in death by his mother, Jaqueline Irene Martinez, great-great grandparents, Fred and Lucy Martinez, Guillermina Kemple, and cousin, Ashleigh San Miguel.

Elijah is survived by his maternal grandmother, Amy Nanaeto, Rahn Korman, his maternal great-grandparents, Joe and Irene San Miguel, aunts and uncles, Michele San Miguel, Joe San Miguel III, and Jason San Miguel, cousins, Victor De Los Santos, Abria San Miguel, Joe San Miguel IV, Ava Torres, Ernesto Torres, and Adrian Joe San Miguel, paternal grandparents, Eluid and Belinda Martinez, paternal great- grandparents, Eluid Sr. and Elena Martinez. Elijah is also survived by his father, Johnathon Cervantes and Bouky, step-sister, Kayla Rae, step-brothers, Aizayah Jay, and Carmelo Cervantes.
