Elida Chagoya age 88 was born on September 15, 1934 and passed away peacefully on February 21, 2023.
Elida was preceded in death by her brother David, sister Zulema, and parents Ben and Trinidad Ybarra.
She is survived by her husband of 60 yrs to Epifanio H. Chagoya where they met seeing each other driving their cars in the streets of San Marcos, TX, sister Virginia, brothers Lalo and Juan, her son Ricky Chagoya (Tina), and daughter Marivel Davis (Justin), and 6 grandchildren Dallas, Parker, Easton, Ava, Marshall, Brooke, many relatives, and friends.
She celebrated the sacrament of Baptism at St. Teresita Catholic Church in San Marcos, TX, and the sacrament of Communion at St John's Catholic Church in San Marcos, TX. Elida graduated from San Marcos High School in 1956.
Elida grew up in San Marcos, TX where she met and fell in love and married Epifanio H. Chagoya. She loved to go dancing, and try new things and was a lot of fun. She then ended up in Dallas, TX to begin her family with her husband and enjoyed working at Titche's Department Store in downtown, and especially at W. E. Greiner Middle School in Oak Cliff where she made numerous friends. She also attended and nurtured her family at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Dallas. She was a member of the Ladies Guild, Rosary Group, and Council of Catholic Women "CCW."
She will always be remembered as a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She loved her family and grandchildren with great joy and dedicated herself to enjoying life with her husband, family, friends, and especially her grandchildren. She was a Rosary praying warrior for Christ and the fruits of her labor are so proudly witnessed by her family and friends, and as she would always say when we said goodbye to each other, "See you later alligator when your legs are straighter."
Visitation will be Sunday March 5, 2023, from 2:00 - 6:00 PM with a Rosary at 4:00PM at
Jeter & Son Cedar Hill Chapel, 332 Cedar St, Cedar Hill, Texas.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday March 6, 2023, at
St. Cecilia's Catholic Church,
1809 W Davis St, Dallas, Texas.
Burial will follow at Dallas / Fort Worth National Cemetery.
