Dorothy Christine
Carpenter

Dorothy Christine Carpenter
December 8, 1947 ~ January 15, 2025
Dorothy Christine Carpenter was born on December 8,1947 in Gatesville, Texas. She went home to be with the LORD on Wednesday, January 15,2025. She loved her church, her family and her Savior ,whom she is now praising face to face.
Christine was the beloved wife to her late husband, L.D., for 50 years. They were married on February 7, 1969 in Garland, Teas, at Richland Baptist Church. Christine and L.D. were blessed with two children: Shelly Anne Carpenter Taylor and husband Tye R. Taylor; and Randall Allen Carpenter and wife Kami Carpenter, seven grandchildren: Bayley Ellison (Hunter), Bryne Lea (Nate), Thaddeus Taylor (Giavonna), Kennedy Carpenter, Karrigan Nichols (Chris), Nolan Carpenter, and Markus Carpenter; and seven great grandchildren Beckham, Vivianne, Mason and Rosie Ellison, Jack and Blake Lea, and Layla Nichols.
Christine is survived by her three sisters Nelda Allums (Mike), Darlene Hamm (Larry), Amy Lambert (Gary) and two brothers, David Black (Barbara) and Dennis Black (Kim) and numerous nieces and nephews. Christine was proceeded in death by her late husband, L. D. Carpenter Jr., her parents Luther and Georgia Arnetta Black, her sister, Eldean Benson and her nephew Lonnie Hamm.
Christine graduated from Richardson High School in 1966 and attended the Methodist Hospital Nursing School where she earned her nursing credentials. Christine served as nurse to Dr. David Usery in his private pediatric office for over 20 years. Later in life she worked in long term care as the Medicare Coordinator at Christian Care Center in Mesquite, Texas as well as Combined Medical Services.
Christine was born into a rich heritage of musicians. She and three of her sisters formed a female quartet led by their father, Luther Black. They were affectionately called, "The Denetts." The girls would sing together at various churches and even made an appearance on the infamous Mr. Peppermint Show!
Christine loved to decorate her home, paint, draw, crochet and work in her garden. She loved flowers and planted them creating a beautiful landscape.
Christine walked the aisle of a small Baptist Church as a young girl, following her sister, Eldean. However, it was right after she married her husband and heard a gospel message at Orchard Hills Baptist Church when she realized she had not trusted Jesus as her personal Lord and Savior. She prayed that day in 1969 to personally accept Jesus as her Savior and followed Him the rest of her life.
Christine served faithfully in the Preschool Ministry at Orchard Hills Baptist Church and later at First Baptist Dallas, teaching Sunday School to young children, She
loved teaching preschoolers about Jesus and sharing the stories of all the things preschoolers share! In the last few years as her health declined, she could no longer serve in the classroom. Instead, she served faithfully as part of the Kids Cove Resource Team preparing supplies to be used in the classrooms on Sundays and throughout the week. She faithfully served with all her heart until the day before she was admitted into the hospital.
She was our beloved Mother, Mimi, Sister and Friend.
Although our hearts are saddened by the separation, we look forward to the day when we will see her again. Today we rest in the promise that she is with our Savior.
John 14:3
