Obituary

Donald E. Campbell

October 3, 1930 - January 5, 2023

Born on October 3rd, 1930, in Monterey, California, to Dorothy and Dwight
Campbell, Donald moved away peacefully in his sleep on January 5th, 2023, to be
with Jesus. He loved the Lord our God with all his soul and strength. Donald was born and raised in the California town of Monterey. He joined the United States Navy after graduating from Pacific Grove High School. The attack on Pearl Harbor inspired him to serve his country. He met his wife of 64 years, Helen (Taylor) Campbell, while stationed in Pensacola, Florida. The Navy Choir joined Helen's church choir out of Brewton, Alabama for the 1954 Christmas performance and sang Handel's Messiah. Don and Helen made a great duet and married the following year. Don and
Helen lived and grew their family of four children in various naval stations throughout the world before retiring from the Navy as a Chief Petty Officer after twenty-seven years of service. Naval stations included Japan, Hawaii, and Guam before settling in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Don was a founding member of Caribbean Baptist Church and an active member of the Commemorative Air Force (CAF). He was awarded a Letter of Commendation for his exceptional service in support of the CAF Maxine Flournoy Third Coast Squadron. Don was also actively involved in other organizations, including Timon's Ministry, Texas Baptist Men, and the Optimist Club. His dedication to helping others was a reoccurring theme throughout all his life in the organizations he supported.

Don was preceded in death by his wife, parents and brothers, Dick & Doug, and infant daughter, Dorothy. He leaves behind his sisters, Dee & Dorothy; his daughter, Julie (Randy Moff); his three sons, Randy, John, and Charlie; his seven grandchildren, Phillip, Ryan, Georgie, Courtney, Ashton, Halle, and Caleb; and nine great-grandchildren, Charlize, Eli, Hayden, Nash, Samson, Hayes, Eleanor, Fallon Grey, and Crosby.
