Don
Brogdon
Jun 2, 1945 — Jan 27, 2025
Donald Walter Brogdon
June 2, 1945 - January 27, 2025
Donald Walter Brogdon fell asleep in death on January 27, 2025. He was born June 2, 1945 in Dallas, TX, where he grew up in a quaint home on Brandon Ave.
A graduate of Sunset High School, he excelled in academia and was an accomplished trumpet player. Don's musical talent was further pursued in the SMU band and culminated, most notably, with the Fightin' Texas Aggie Band. Don graduated from Texas A&M in 1969 and, a few months later, exchanged vows with Sherry Powers on August 1. After college, Don enlisted in the Army, where he served for 10 years and achieved rank as captain. During this time, Don and Sherry brought two children into the world. Don's career path led him to a position as a design engineer with Lockheed Martin, where he collaborated on several high-profile projects until his retirement. Don was deeply devoted to his family, friends, and everything Aggie. There was never an important date he forgot, as far as birthdays, anniversaries, and notable milestones. For anyone who knew Don, they would say he was one of the most die-hard Aggies there ever was. He also cherished memories of time he spent in Germany during his military service.
Don was preceded in death by his father, William Brogdon (1957); mother, Lonnie Brogdon (2000); brother, Baker Brogdon (2006). He is survived by his wife, Sherry Brogdon; children, Jennifer O'Neil and Don Brogdon Jr and his wife, Rhonda; sister, Carolyn McKay; grandchildren, Mia O'Neil, Brianna Brogdon, and Abigail Brogdon; as well as a number of nieces and nephews, best friend, "Doc" James, and other close friends.
