Obituary

David Fisher

David passed away in Mansfield, Texas on July 8, 2025 from congestive heart failure, surrounded by his loving family. David was born on May 29, 1947 at Fort Baker, in San Rafael, California. Growing up as an army brat, David's childhood was spent moving from state to state. Ultimately, David called Donelson, Tennessee home, which is where he met and married Sherry Cundiff Fisher, his high-school sweetheart and wife of more than 55 years, who preceded him in death in 2020.

David worked for Commerce Union Bank from 1966 to 1985 in both Tennessee and Texas. He was a financial advisor from 1985 until his retirement in 2020. He loved playing his guitar with his friends and playing tennis with his loving wife. David also enjoyed doing volunteer work at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Parish and with the St. Vincent De Paul Society as well as teaching R.C.I.A. classes.

David and Sherry had three children, one of whom died in childbirth. David is survived by a son, William Fisher and grandsons, Christian and Luke as well as a daughter, Kelly Schmidt and her husband, Stephen Schmidt and a granddaughter, Brittney Dorough and her husband, Wes Dorough as well as three great-granddaughters, Sophia, Madison, and Savannah. David's greatest sorrow was the loss of his grandson, Dylan whose untimely death occurred in 2014. David is also survived by two sisters, Margie Bannister and Mary Jane Charles, as well as her husband, Steve Charles and numerous nieces and nephews.
