Craig George

September 24, 1940 - February 16, 2023

Craig Anthony George was born Sept. 24, 1940, in Sisseton, SD to Leo and Theresa (Schmaus) George. After high school, he served in the US Navy from 1959-1963, where he was also a boxing champion. He married the love of his life, Ellen (Roghair) George on Jan. 20, 1963, in Downey, California. They spent most of their early marriage in Southern California and started their family. They moved to Aberdeen, SD in 1975 where he served as a boxing coach for the Boys Club, and then to Warner, SD in 1978 where their children both graduated from high school. Craig was in the tire business for most of his life, serving in various positions including sales and management. In his later years, he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by one daughter, Rhonda (Craig) Hoellein of Rapid City, SD, and one son, Tony (Tina) George of Cedar Hill, TX, two sisters, Brenda Nerpal of Vancouver, WA, and Lynette (Don) Brass of Ft. Worth, TX, three brothers, Richard George of East Helena, MT, John George of Clancy, MT, and Keith George of Helena, MT. He had four grandchildren, Austin (Nicole) Hoellein of Sioux Falls, SD, Alexander (Anna) Hoellein of Fultondale, AL, Tiana (Gabe Deeb) George of Williamson, GA, Trenton George of Austin, TX, and 3 great-grandchildren, Aspen Hoellein, Anderson Hoellein, Magnolia Deeb.

He was greeted at the gates of heaven by his loving wife, Ellen, his parents, four sisters, Phyllis Bloomquist, Betty Dykes, Shirley Murray, Barbara George, and three brothers, Ronald George, Francis George, Thomas George.
