Obituary

Charles Ronald (Ron) Webb

Ron Webb was born on May 4, 1943 in Louisa, Kentucky, and died on April 28, 2025, from pancreatic cancer. His parents were Edna Williamson and Charlie Webb. His Cherokee heritage was passed down from his parents, both of whom were half-Cherokee. Ron is survived by wife Barbara Cox Webb, with whom he recently celebrated 58 years of marriage, son Rusty Webb of Hot Springs, Arkansas, son Ricky Webb and daughter Becca Webb, both of Waxahachie, Texas, along with sisters Donna Green and Linda Barnwell of Birmingham, Alabama.

Ron received his Bachelor of Science and Master's in Education from Livingston University, now the University of West Alabama in Livingston, Alabama. Ron played college basketball at Livingston and served as a graduate assistant coach while completing his Master's degree. He went on to coach and teach in Alabama and then Texas, moving to Dallas in 1974 to establish the athletic program at Tyler Street Christian Academy in the Oak Cliff area. He loved TSCA and Tyler Street Church.

Later, Ron was very proud to serve as director of the Dallas Intertribal Center of Dallas. He had the experience of successful testifying before the Bureau of Indian Affairs to receive funding and support.

Ron then pursued certifications as a Real Property Administrator and Certified Property Manager and finished his work life as the real estate/right of way manager for Dallas Area Rapid Transit, making the way for the light rail system in Dallas.

Ron loved golf, car shows and antique cars. He restored a 1935 Ford, 1939 Chevrolet, and a 1974 VW jeep. His cars won many awards and trophies, but he tells friends the tallest trophy belongs to Barbara for Best Interior Design for the '35 Ford. He was most proud of the trophy for Best in Show at a major classic car show in the pre-50's class.

The family is grateful to Baylor, Scott, and White in Waxahachie for their care and support. The doctors, nurses, and staff, including the Sammons Cancer Center and Baylor Heart Hospital, were compassionate and professional. We are also grateful to the nurses and staff of Bristol Hospice, whose loving care eased his last days and continue to minister to us as we move forward without our precious husband and dad.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 10, at 2:00 pm in the sanctuary of Tyler Street Church, located at 927 W. 10th Street in Dallas. If you are able to join in the celebration of Ron's life, feel free to wear your comfy jeans, gold shirt, bright colors, Hawaiian shirt, or Tyler Street blue attire.

Ron leaned on Psalm 73:23-26 the last few few weeks: "Yet I am always with you; you hold me by my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into Glory. Whom have I heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever." Hallelujah!
