Carolyn Sue
Womack
Mar 2, 1940 — Dec 4, 2022
Carolyn Sue Walker Womack was born in Houston, Texas, on March 2, 1940, to Kermit and Zuella (Mooney) Walker. She was the eldest of 3 children.
Her family moved from Houston to Austin and spent several years there. They eventually moved to Fort Worth, where Carolyn attended Paschal High School. She graduated in 1958 and then attended a school known at that time as East Texas Baptist College in Marshall, Texas.
Carolyn married Jessie Ray Womack on December 16, 1961. They had two children—Thomas Glen in 1965 and Amy Ruth in 1971.
Wanting to serve her Lord and Savior through her work, she began her career at First Baptist Church in Dallas in 1978. For the next 27 years, she worked in several different departments at the church including the Recreation Ministry, Media Ministry and the Engineering/Physical Plant Department. She retired from the church in 2005.
In 2010 she moved to Erie, Pennsylvania to live near her grandkids. Then in 2014, she moved to Chicago, Illinois to live near her daughter and son-in-law. In 2018, she was diagnosed with dementia and began the part of her journey that would lead to her home going. The many care takers who helped her along the way would always comment about her strength, sweetness and how she would pray for them.
Her earthly journey ended on December 4th, 2022. She is survived by her daughter Amy and son-in-law Martin Rios, her son, Tom Womack, her grandkids Jessica and Clayton Womack, her brother, Kermit Walker, and many nieces and nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, gifts may be given in her memory to the Women's Ministry of the First Baptist Church, Dallas to benefit the single mothers of the church.
