Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears
the Lord shall be praised.  Proverbs 31:30

LEWIS, Billie Charlene of Glenn Heights, TX, passed away on May 24, 2024, at the age of 92, surrounded by her loving family Charlene was born on January 05, 1932, to Ernest Cleo & Bessie Pearl (Chapman) Shaw in Ovilla, Texas   In 1947, at the young age of 15, she married the love of her life, Gene Elbert Lewis. They were blessed with 6 children. She served alongside Gene for over 50 years as a pastor's wife and devoted over 14 years to the Prison Ministry.

Charlene's only goal was to uphold God's principles as a mother and wife.  To her, the most important and relevant purpose in her life was to honor God, engraving His Truth in her heart.  She took her God-given role to heart and was the truest companion amid life's trials and heavy burdens. She labored intensely for the stability and building up of her family, teaching strength, comfort, and wisdom to her children.  She showed her children courage to fight on the battlefield for their souls, leading by example; as she fought for her family with all her heart, soul, and mind. Her faith was an inspiration to her family as well as to others.

Charlene is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest & Bessie Shaw; her spouse of over 73 years, Gene Elbert Lewis, her daughter, Rhonda Sue Lewis; her son, Jonathan Paul Lewis; her grandson, David Nathan Lewis, Jr.; and her pet baby squirrel, Precious.

She is survived by her brother, HC (& Dolores) Shaw of Waxahachie, TX; her children Charlotte (& Gary) Smith of Wylie, TX; Beth (& Doug) Massie of Nevada, TX; David (& Eva) Lewis of Timpson, TX; Patti (& Stewart) Love of Dallas, TX; and Janis Lewis of Glenn Heights, TX. She will be loved and remembered by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews.

Those who knew Billie Charlene Lewis, aka Granny, were blessed by her Godly influence.  She will always be with us in spirit.  She lavished so much love, care, and wisdom to those closest to her.  Her wish for her family and friends has been and will always be I want to Stroll over Heaven with you.  This is not goodbye, rather, see you later.

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM Tuesday June 4, 2024, with the Funeral Service at 11:00 AM, at The Grace Place, 5950 S. Collins, Arlington, TX  76018; interment will follow at D/FW National Cemetery,
