Bernice Branch Gore, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, peacefully passed away on March 12, 2026, at the age of 97. Born on November 24, 1928, in Duncan, Mississippi, Bernice lived a life marked by love, resilience, and a deep commitment to her family and community. Throughout her life, Bernice exemplified the values of hard work and dedication. After marriage, she was a homemaker, then later worked for a catering company. Bernice was also actively involved in AMVETS and VFW organizations, honoring those who served in the military and demonstrating her profound respect for their sacrifices.
Bernice found joy in the simple pleasures of life, including spending time with family and shopping, which often turned into delightful outings filled with laughter and cherished memories. She was a vibrant presence, and her spirit will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy lives on through her daughters, Barbara Criswell and Sharron Gore. She was a proud grandmother to Sarah Gore, Wesley Gore, Hayley Henshaw, Cassie Peterkin, and Ben Roth-Saalberg. She was known as Gigi to her great-grandchildren Bryce Lewis, Jordyn Nutter, Jackson Henshaw, Blaine Peterkin, Jaxen Gore, Skylar Henshaw, and Emma Peterkin, and her great-great-grandchildren, Marshawn Lewis, Kion Lewis, and Omen Lewis. Bernice was predeceased by her husband, John W. Gore, her son, John W. Gore, Jr., and her grandson, J.J. Lewis. Their memories will forever be intertwined with hers, reminding her family of the love that binds them all together.
A gathering for family and friends will be held at Jeter & Son Funeral Home in Dallas, TX, on Friday, March 27, 2026, at 12:00 PM, followed by a committal service at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity supporting veterans, in honor of Bernice's lifelong commitment to those who served. Her loving spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
