In Loving Memory of Audie "Big Dog" Ramirez
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Audie "Big Dog" Ramirez, who left this world on March 2, 2026, at the age of 70. Audie was born in Fort Riley, Kansas, to Felix and Virginia Ramirez and grew up in Oak Cliff, Texas, where he built a life filled with faith, family, laughter, and service to others.
Audie was a man whose presence could fill a room. Known affectionately as "Big Dog," he had a big heart to match his nickname. He lived his life with kindness, humor, and a deep love for the people around him. To know Audie was to know someone who would offer a smile, share a story, lend a helping hand, or serve up a bowl of his famous chili.
Audie attended Adamson High School in Dallas and remained a proud, lifelong Adamson Leopard, always carrying that Leopard pride with him.
Audie spent 32 years working at Enterprise Rent-A-Car. During those years, he built many cherished friendships with coworkers who became like family to him. He was known for his warm personality, his willingness to help others, and the laughter he brought to the workplace. The relationships he formed during his time there meant a great deal to him and remained an important part of his life.
At the center of Audie's life was his family. He shared 24 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Sandra. Their marriage was built on love, faith, laughter, and partnership. Together they shared life's joys and challenges side by side, creating a home filled with warmth and love. Sandra was truly the love of his life, and the years they spent together meant everything to him.
Audie was a proud father to Frances(MarkSonia & Audie Jr. ( Kori) and a loving adopted father to Michael Jarrett Sr. His children were one of the greatest blessings of his life.
Audie's heart grew even fuller when he became a grandfather. He adored his grandchildren—Elyssia, Chloe, Giselle, Maddie, Vinny, Ruben, Myles, Michael Jr.and Nicholas —each one bringing him pride, laughter, and endless joy. He was also blessed with a great-granddaughter, Baby Frances, who brought him so much happiness and always made him smile.
Faith was the guiding light of Audie's life. Since 1989, he was a devoted and faithful member of the Dallas Indian Mission United Methodist Church. His church was not just a place he attended—it was a place he loved deeply and served with all his heart. Audie dedicated many years to serving others through the church as a Certified Lay Servant, youth coordinator, and Sunday school teacher. He had a special passion for working with young people, helping guide them with patience, wisdom, and encouragement. He was also an active member of the United Methodist Men ( UMM) and the Silver Feathers, always willing to step in, lend a hand, and support his church family in any way he could. His faith and service touched many lives and will continue to inspire those who knew him.
Audie had a special gift for bringing joy to others. For many years he lovingly played Santa Claus during the holidays, bringing smiles, laughter, and excitement to countless children. He truly enjoyed seeing the wonder in their eyes, and those moments meant just as much to him as they did to the families he shared them with.
He was also well known among his church family for his incredible homemade chili. Audie proudly entered UMM cook-offs over the years and won several awards with his famous recipe. Sharing his chili with friends and family was one of the many ways he brought people together and made everyone feel welcome.
Audie was also a true sports fan through and through. He was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan and a proud Oklahoma Sooners supporter. Game days were serious business in the Ramirez household. Whether it was cheering loudly for the Cowboys or proudly backing the Sooners, Audie never missed a chance to support his teams. Through every season—good or bad—his loyalty never wavered.
He also had a special place in his heart for his beloved dogs, Lil Guy, Fry Bread, and Rico, who brought him companionship, comfort, and plenty of joy.
Audie was preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Virginia Ramirez, and his brother, Tony Ramirez.
He is also survived by many loving brothers and sisters who walked beside him throughout life's journey, as well as countless tia's, neices, nephews friends, coworkers, and church family.
Though our hearts are broken by his passing, we find comfort in knowing that Audie's love, faith, and joyful spirit will continue to live on in all who knew him. The lessons he taught, the laughter he shared, and the love he gave will remain in our hearts forever.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Dallas Indian Mission United Methodist Church, 1203 Hollywood Ave., Dallas, Texas, or to a charitable organization of your choice.
The family also welcomes those attending the service to wear Dallas Cowboys or Oklahoma Sooners attire in honor of Audie's love for his favorite teams. He would have truly enjoyed seeing everyone show their team spirit.
Audie "Big Dog" Ramirez will be deeply missed but never forgotten. His legacy of love, faith, kindness, and laughter will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
